[opening remarks] As every month, we embrace all our hardships and the painful concerns of our Country in our sincere prayer. Today we send our prayers to the throne of our Heavenly Father through the Holy Mother to whom the month of May is especially dedicated. We ask for the day when, in our nation, brother will not hatefully raise his hand against brother. For the day when those imprisoned for their beliefs will come home and will be able to give unconditionally their strength, their minds and their hearts to their Country. For the day when everybody who had been deprived of his job, for various reasons, will be able to work again. For the day when our Country will have peace, love, justice and true freedom. Holy Mass for the Fatherland on April 29 1984 was celebrated by Bishop Zbigniew Jozef Kraszewski who delivered the sermon. [closing remarks] Just so Warsaw does not brag that there are so many of us here… We are so many because we have many visitors from other cities. I want to thank sincerely those who went to a lot of trouble to arrive here. Not all could come. I had a phone call from Piekary Slaskie before Mass. They were detained for 48-hours. The reason? The Mass in Warsaw. They were allowed to go half-an-hour before Mass. They called me immediately to say that they are with us in heart only. Nevertheless, their families from Zakopane, Piekary Slaskie, Slupsk, Wroclaw, Kolobrzeg, Czestochowa, Gdynia, Gdansk, Siemianowice, Michalowice Slaskie, farmers from Wierzbno, representatives from Bialystok, Krakow, Lublin, Ostroleka, Garwolin, Lapy, Suwalik, Nowa Huta, Ostrow Mazowiecki, Lodz, from Malborek, Kielce, Bielska-Biala, Torun, Swidnik, Lubin, Siedlce, Swinioujscie, Chelm,Mistrzejowice, Bransk, Oswiecim and Huta Baildon in Katowice and many others who I have not mentioned – It is impossible to mention everybody. One more request. As always we are leaving for our homes in absolute silence, in meditation. Let us not abandon the atmosphere of prayer which we have maintained here for almost two hours. We are not distributing any pamphlets, we do not show any pamphlets, we do not give anybody the opportunity to use our gathering for provocation. God bless you.

[opening remarks] On the same day that Holy Father consecrated the entire world, peoples and nations to the Heart of the Blessed Mother, we gather at our Church’s altar to bring the prayers for our Country and for those who suffer most for her. So, through the Blessed Mother’s hands we place our prayers before God’s throne enclosing in our clumsy words all the pains, concerns and worries of our Nation. In a special way, in our prayers, we include those who cannot be with us be- cause they are in prison, that is the leaders of “Solidarity”, the Committee of the Defense of the Workers, Confederation of Independent Poland, Dr.Bednarkiewicz, as well as the imprisoned last month for independent thinking, author Marek Nowakowski, and all those imprisoned for their beliefs. We commend our brothers who paid with their lives for the love of their country. We commend the school children of Garwolin who bravely stood up in the defense of Christ’s cross.
